A family owned and run training ground in Thornton -le Moor, North Lincolnshire, opened in August 2020. From Ange's passion for horses, our aim was to provide a friendly training ground with something for everyone, resulting in a confidence building course for horses and riders of all levels.
Located at the Winters' family farm, the ground is hosted by Ange and Bob, who will often meet you on arrival. Bob retired from everyday farming in 2019, the XC venture has left little time for retirement, having embraced the new business with his secret, underlying passion for horses. He has spent hours on his digger getting the water complex / banks / ditches to where they are today and putting his heart and soul into making the course a success. Bob, being a farmer and knowing his land is vigilant about maintaining and looking after the ground which we pride ourselves on.
Ange's passion for cross country riding began at an early age, where she would spend the summer holidays with her friend who's family owned a XC course. When they held Pony Club ODE's she was a runner on her pony, Star. Leading to her first hunter trial at the age of 13 on her 2nd pony Sunny, falling in love with the sport even more. Then a family tragedy, Ange lost her 20-year-old brother in a motorbike accident in 1988, life changed a lot and she didn’t ride again until adulthood.
Fast forward to now, after a 17-year career in fashion retail buying Ange and her family moved back to her husband's childhood home in 2017. After the move to Lincolnshire, it wasn’t long before horses appeared, and she picked up the reins, getting back in the saddle for the first time in 33 years. The idea of the XC business was a lightbulb moment after she began XC training, resulting in putting our heart and soul into making the course a pleasurable and fun experience for your enjoyment and training.
